how do you convert ml into mm?

for my assignment i need to find out how many millimetres of rain would need to fall to fill two tanks, one that holds 79.13L and the other 325.8 L

i have already converted these into Ml, but not sure how to convert Ml into mm.

any help ?

Update:

yes one of them is a cylindrical structure. the radius is 4.5m

  • You would need to know something about the shape of the tanks. Assuming they were cylinders, for example, you'd need the radius to figure the area of the base.

    liters and milliliters are measurements of volume.

    meters and millimeters are measurements of length.

    In a simple example, if you had something that was 1000 L, that's equivalent to 1000 x 1000 ml = 1,000,000 ml. That's equivalent to 1,000,000 cubic cm.

    Let's say the area of the bottom was 10,000 cm², then the height would be:

    1,000,000 cm^3 / 10,000 cm² = 100 cm

    1 cm = 10 mm, so 100 cm = 1000 mm.

    Anyway, all of this is hypothetical. You need to supply the dimensions of both tanks.

    Edit:

    325.8 L = 325,800 ml = 325,800 cm^3

    Conversion factor:

    1 m^3 = 100 cm x 100 cm x 100 cm = 1,000,000 cm^3

    So divide by 1,000,000 to get the volume in cubic meters.

    = 0.3258 m^3

    Next figure the area of a circle with a radius of 4.5 m

    A = π r²

    A = π (4.5)²

    A = 63.6 m²

    The height of the cylinder would be:

    0.3258 / 63.6

    = 0.00512264151 m

    Multiply by 1000 to get mm:

    ≈ 5.12 mm

  • My dear, there is no direct conversion!! As is, your question will remain unresolved unless you give more more data (like the diameters of those tanks if they are cylindrical in shape)

    .

    ml and li are units of volume while mm is a unit of length.

    If the containing tanks are cylinder, use the formula of the volume of a cylinder to solve the height:

    V(volume)= Area of the base x height= (pi x D^2/4)* (H)

    where pi=3.1416 D=diameter of the tank H=height of tank

    mm (millimeters) are units of length. ml (milliliters) are measures of volume. You cannot convert one to the other. A square mm is a measure of area and also cannot be converted to milliliters. A cubic mm is a measure of volume, and is equal to one milliliter.

  • I'm guessing they're both cylinders of radius 4.5m.

    79.13 litres = 0.07913 m³

    325.8 litres = 0.3258 m³

    volume of a cylinder = πr²h, where h is the height (or depth of the rain) and r is the radius

    0.07913 = π*4.5²*h

    0.3258 = π*4.5²*h

    h = 0.001243845m = 1.244 mm

    h = 0.005121252m = 5.121 mm
