can someone explain how to do it not just give the answer

  • The natural log of a problem means it is a logarithm of base e, where e is some irrational number around 2.71.

    basically its the following equation set of equations:

    b^y = x

    y = log base b of x

    for the natural log, b = 2.71, and the log turns into an ln.

    so in effect you will have 16 = ln(x^2)

    if you undo that, you have 2.71 ^16 = x^2

    solve for x.
