What do Australians do for fun?
My husband and I are planning on moving to Australia for a year and were wondering, what do Australians do for fun? Besides clubbing.... we will have 2 children when we go. (one is on the way) Do Australians drink a lot of that FABULOUS wine I SOOOO much love, but pay a premium price for here in Canada?

Drinking, eating, surfing, drinking, drinking, watch footy, bbqs, drinking, fighting, drinking and drinking.
In the afternoon we take a rest.
If you're looking for a good place to go to wine tasting head to the hunter valley region near Newcastle, Nsw, It really is beautiful there and the weather is great, theres also the chocolate/cheese associated with these wineries so the kids have something to do and you'll get some great pictures.
Do your research before settling in somewhere as there are a lot of rough areas where crime is an issue (Break in's, Fighting and vandalism mostly due to uneducated Aussies who spend way to much time drinking and for some reason still don't have a tolerance to alcohol). My advice is don't move to queensland, There's a lot of bogans up here and i don't find it very family friendly to live (Great for a holiday for a week or 2 though)
Drinking is important in Australia. Beer is is big. Australia has the best wine in the world. Not cheap!! Most things in Australia are not cheap.
Going to the beach, picnics, bike riding, restaurants, movies, live theatre, gambling (I don't recommend it but it is big). Getting yourself and kids involved in sports, cricket, football - visiting football too. If you stay in Sydney, you have ferry weekend trips on the harbour (highly recommended).
You also, have Darling Harbour - a famous place where you can dine, take the kids to the aquarium and Imax. Across the harbour is the zoo.
yep, there is plenty of wine to be had and plenty to go around.
I guess we do what is known as "the great aussie spirit" we love our weekend bbq's with friends and family, a few drinks etc., Going on picnics to the beach or National Parks, the footy, the bathurst annual car race, the melbourne cup (the horses) where the nation stops to watch it. You dont have to go clubbing. There is heaps to do with young kids - amusement parks, the zoos, underwater worlds, aquariums, indoor heated pools with play areas, camping, the list goes on.
No Australians I know sit around drinking as a regular pastime, but we do get together for a leisurely meal and a few too many drinks occasionally. For fun, I like getting out and bushwalking, gardening, bike riding, visiting friends, going to events in my city, weekends away on the coast or in the country. Mr Sheila is an avid sailor and enjoys going to the football (if he thinks his team is going to win).
Australia is Just Like America We Do Normal Things [I think]
Social Networking, Surf, Wtch Footy etc
Australians are big on drinking, what a life!!!!!!!!!! *sarcasm*
They kinda just sit around all day, watch football, drink beer and continue living in the "reality" they've created for themselves.
