The tricky thing about braces is that they're glued to your teeth. My brother accidentally hit his braces, and one of them came off the tooth - and took the tooth enamel with it. Now he's got a crater in his tooth. I don't think that there is a safe way to remove braces by yourself, unless you have the solvents and tools that the dentist does.
