since no one else that answered you did any research at all and clearly should read a book or something, i'll give you a real answer.
Supposedly maria rossi was a real person that killed the priests presiding over her exorcism. However, when i tried to do some digging up about information on her i found none. even the website www.therossifiles.com does not work. it is always inactive.
As for annalese, she was possessed and did not die of dehydration. That's clearly words from a skeptic and an ignorant person. You can look up the audio tape from her exorcism on youtube. It will bring chills to you. The movie the exorcism of emily rose is based off of her.
To think that there isn't something out there evil or good, god or devil, demon or angel; would be ignorant and just plain stupid. every single religion besides atheism believes in some form of good and evil. If you do your research, you will find this. In the bible itself, Jesus was an exorcist. Science can't explain everything, but it can also explain quit a lot.

Evne if it was based off a real case (of which there's no proof), it still doesn't mean that whoever this was based off was actually possessed by the devil.

No. I haven't been able to find any real information on Maria Rossi. People use movies and stories like these to scare people into believing so that they will go to church and throw that money in the offering plate. To say that someone is ignorant, simply because they don't believe the book of fairy tales they refer to as "The Bible," is simply closed-minded and ignorant. No, science can't explain everything, not yet. But there will come a time when science completely disproves this fantasy that there is a heaven and hell and we're all going to go there. There is more proof of alien encounters than there are of gods and devils. As a matter of fact, primitive men, the kind that wrote the bible, were more than likely mistaking aliens for god. They would have appeared to be far superior with their technology. If you tare the bible apart, page by page, scripture by scripture, relating it to aliens, it all pans out. Look for the History Channel documentary over the subject. It's quite surprising. Of course, if you believe this, everyone thinks your loony, but it's completely expected to believe all this nonsense and fatasy-land bs that's in the bible.
