Converting A Normal Shop Air Compressor?

How Do I Convert A Air Compressor From 110 AC To 12 Volt DC??? Is This Even Possible??? I Need A 30 Gallon Compressor On My Work Truck And I Dont Want To have To Pay Alot Of Money For A New One, Soo I Thought Maybe I Can Convert My Spare One To Work... Im Not An Electrician By Any Means....

Update:

might i be able to buy a new motor for it that will work???

  • No, the motor is designed to work with 110 - 120 volts Alternating current. 12 volts direct current would only burn out the relays and switches in the motor.

Look on the motor to see how many watts the motor uses. Then go on EBAY and look for a cheap chinese made gas generator that will provide the amount of watts you need to run your compressor.

Cost about the same as buying a gas compressor, and you can use the generator to run your power tools on the job site.

  • you're greater perfect off to be conscious a small generator to skill the compressor. They do sell AC converters yet they are only for instruments and distinctive products that rather require an extremely small present day supply.

  • You would be better off to use a small generator to power the compressor. They do sell AC converters but they are only for instruments and other items that only require a very small current supply.

  • power inverter

Different devices require specific wattages to run correctly and efficiently. use this formula to determine the correct size inverter:

    AMPS x 120 = Watts

    Example: 15 Amp Cooling Unit X 120 = 1800 Watts
