  • Hey,

    Basically, to JUST recharge the system you buy the correct refrigerant and get your tools out. Pop the hood and examine the A/C components for obvious damage. Next you need to vacuum purge the system and then recharge it with refrigerant.

    That's it!

    What else could be the problem?

    The most common problems are:

    * A dirty condenser.

    * Condenser cooling fan. not operating.

    * Air or moisture contaminating the system.

    * Blockages or leaking in the system.

    * Failed components:

    Compressor

    Compressor Clutch

    Pressure Switches

    Metering Valves

    Electrical Components

    Damaged Wiring

    There it is, just the basics.

    Hopefully a recharge will do the trick and keep you cool this summer. I recommend taking it to a shop that will guarantee the work. By the time you get everything together and spend your time doing the job, the cost will be about the same with no guarantee.

  • Your ac system have a lick somewhere. Recharge your ac will make it cold.. But for how long.. It really depend on the lick.. It's very hard to find R-12.
