My mum has paranoid schizophrenia?

Hi.My Mum has paranoid schizophrenia. She has to get injections once a month to control her condition.I hadn't seen her in a couple of months there because i was too busy and she was completely fine the last time i seen her.Well i went to see her last week and she is very unwell again.I think she stopped taking her injections. She is hallucinating and is so delusional at the moment. She thinks that M15 have planted a chip in her brain and are controlling her thoughts and watching her every move and planning to kill her and her family including me.She says that the FBI have sent secret messages to her through the TV warning her about this. She has been hearing voices telling her we are all going to die too.I am so terribly worried about her.My brother and sisters live so far away i am the only one that can try and do something to help.My Mum sees a psychiatrist and a CPN.Should i phone her CPN asap and tell them everything that has been going on with my mother?Thank you

  • You should definitely call her CPN asap. Schizophrenics who receive injections bi-weekly/monthly are usually those with a poor compliance with medication and as such are at a greater risk. It is unusual that the community mental health team that is responsible for your Mum's care haven't been in touch with regards to her injections. With it being saturday, if you can't get in touch with your mum's CPN or even her GP, you should call NHS Direct for help.

  • I'm unsure of what a CPN is. Call her psychiatrist ASAP, before she ends up hurting herself or someone else. Live long and prosper.

  • Hi. I have an aunt with this condition and it's very scary. It sounds like she isn't taking her medication bc people with this condition think nothing is wrong with them. Phone the doctor immediately normally people like this aren't able to live by themselves and need supervision. Good luck seeetie

  • If you want, you can try having her do music therapy. There are some cases in Europe when schizophrenic people got better when they participated in making music with other people. And there's no harm to letting your mom play a musical instrument to have fun and communicate with people. (It's definitely better than having injections.)
