  • If you have a zoom lens, try to find something with pattern, a bunch of change on the table, a bed of all the same flowers, ect. Grab your tripod and set the shutte speed for about 1 second, zoom as far in as you can and while the photograph is exposing, zoom the lens out, it is an interesting effect! You could also try the opposite, zoom out as far as you can and then zoom in.... With a digital camera it is easy to try all differents sorts of layouts and shutter speeds to get an effect that you like!

  • I've seen a great series on reflections in water... they were done in different locations (some showed parts of buidings, others showed reflections of trees, etc), some zoomed in, some zoomed out, different lighting situations (the sunrise/sunset ones were the best). They were very beautiful... and sometimes you couldn't even tell what you were looking at.

  • Move when you take a picture. It looks very abstract when you do that as everything insn't what it looked like it would be.

  • Take an object and really zoom into it. Sometimes it's hard to tell what an object is after you zoom into it. It can look very abstract.
