Reduce Scar Appearance?

I had surgery on my wrist back in December to remove a Ganglion Cyst.

Well anyway, my doctor told me before my surgery that the scar wouldn't be that noticeable. But in fact, it's APRIL and it sticks out!

That's what it looks like right now as of like 5 minutes ago.

It doesn't look that bad in the picture. But it's actually cold in my room right now and when it's cooler, the scar lightens up. But when it gets warmer, the scar totally shows. It gets darker.

What can I do to reduce the appearance?

Will getting tanner take the appearance of it away?

I'm willing to try anything. And when I mean get tanner, I mean just from being outside since I get really tan in the spring and summer.

How can you reduce scar tissue as well?

  • They do have over-the-counter creams for scar reduction at just about all drugstores, just go in and ask.

I'm not sure how well they work.

As far as your scar goes, I doubt that it's really that bad (I never open pictures on Y/A) and it could be a "conversation piece."

While you're not happy with it, look at the positive side, at least it's not on your face. I'm not trying to minimize your concern, just to point out the positive aspect.

    Good luck to you.

  • BIO-OIL!! It is quite expensive, but if you want something thats gonna work, then you'll have to spend a bit!! But bio-oil is really good, for scars, stretchmarks and almost any mark on your skin!!

  • Scars give you personality. Dont let it shame you.

  • it will probably not tan well.

Cortisone cream may help make the scar tissue get thinner.
