Yes you can, and very easily. First from the device manager get all the list of hardware you have, then check the manufacturer's website for the Xp drivers for you laptop. if found download them( move to a pen drive if possible) . Then use the Windows XP CD to reinstall the OS. You can do this by selecting the first boot device to be DVD ROM from BIOS or if you have Boot device option ( usually the F12 button ). Insert the disc and the installation should start. After install use the downloaded drivers to recognize hardware properly.Done....
It depends on the CPU your laptop is using, and even if you are able to install XP, you might not be able to get the drivers for your laptop. Since you have Vista.... Try to live with it. Btw, it is possible, but difficult, if you don't mind paying, you can get a technician to do it for you

If you load XP, would you be able to get drivers to work with XP for a machine built for Vista ?
