i'm not sure what those two spelling are supposed to sound like. i think we pronounce it 'shant', like we don't pronounce an 'r' sound.
No one ever says that words, as it is old. I, however, tend to say it with a short 'a' sound, rhyming with 'hand' and 'can'.
