design of gear trains problem?
i have been asked to design a gear train but im struggling with a few problems on it.this is what i have done so far...
i have two gears (gear 1 is the driver and gear 2 is the driven)
both on separate shafts, 300mm centre bet-wen the two.
gear 1 has 15 teeth
gear 2 has 60 teeth
shaft 1 is driven by an electric motor and rotates at 100revs min^-1
shaft 2 is rotating 400revs min^-1 in opposite direecion against a load of 200Nm
what i am struggling with is determin the input power required at shaft 1
i believe the equation is (Force ratio=load/effort) but im not sure which that is or if that is correct
also i need to determin an equation for the efficiency of the gear train in terms of the load on shaft 2.
any help with this is much appreciated
