Actually "Obamacare" is not public health care. It is a compromise the Democrats made to get Republican support for the health care reforms, keeping the system in private sector control while accepting regulation. The profit motive remains the driving force.
In Canada and Europe the systems are government owned and operated, funded through tax dollars one way or another.
I support the changes, but want a true public health system. Having practiced medicine in both Canada and the United States I can say without doubt that a public system is cheaper, more efficient and more care oriented. Even when successive Conservative governments have underfunded the system it remains the pride of the citizens and can not be privatized without revolution.
One day my native land will have the courage to act like Canadians.

Our health reform is nothing like Europe. Radically different. It's a small political victory that will help many people.
