Macbook Pro Windows 7 Upgrade?

I have a MacBook Pro and am currently running Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a partition. I had to use an unlicensed version of Windows XP because the one I own is a Service Pack 1 disc and BootCamp needs an install disc with at least Service Pack 2. I got a Windows 7 Upgrade disc from my University and I need to know if the upgrade will work. I'd like to do a clean install but I am not sure if the solutions people have put out will work. Will I be able to upgrade to Windows 7 with my Service Pack 1 license or can I do a clean install with the Service Pack 1 license?

    Sorry, but the upgrade version will only work with Vista. You can't upgrade from XP to 7. You'll need either a full copy of 7 or a legit copy of Vista to install for the upgrade to work.
