honda accord starter problem?

My honda accord has what may be a starter problem, electrical problem, or something wrong int the distributer cap area, i start the car and the engine turns over when i turn the key but doesn't stay on after that. also that last time i was driving it, while rolling a 50-60 km/hr the whole thing just shut down, the lights, dash, and engine all cut out, i kept rolling and a few blocks later it just kicked back in. any ideas on what the problem is or how i could repair it???

  • your problem is with the ignition switch. the ignition switch is inside the steering column cover on the back end of the key cylinder where you put the key into the ignition and turn it to start.

all of the electricity for the engine ignition system flows through the ignition switch. your's has the contacts burnt out for the run position

honda had a recall on the ignition switches for the 1998-2000 accords. if your's is in that range they will replace it for free.

    hope that helps

  • Go to a machanic..actually, u should go 2 a honda dealership..

  • The car starts but it kills rite after that

  • fuel pump going out - 133000k or 80000 miles there about they die

  • start with battery cables...dirty??? battery? good?
