after mammogram doctor asked to see a specialist

My mom had a mammogram about a week ago and family doctor asked my mom to go see a specialist. They said there's nothing to be alarmed but they didn't say why she has to see a specialist. Is this normal after a mammogram? I'm very worried. Anything would help. Thanks.

  • I'm surprised they didn't give her a reason as to why she needs to see a specialist. I would call her doctor back and ask what specifically the reason is....mostly to put her mind at ease. I was sent to a surgeon after a mammogram, but I was told that my mammogram was abnormal and highly likely to be a malignancy. The fact they're telling her it's nothing to be alarmed about sounds like it's possibly nothing serious, just something that needs to be checked by a specialist. Easier said than done, I know, but try not to worry.

  • Why doesn't she just ask? It could be that saw a little something or may have not- sometimes they just want a specialist to read the xrays. They often don't know what to look for, but the specialist does. They did the same thing for my back. They told me not to worry, but to see the Rhemu so they can read it and tell me exactly what they think.

It is good they did this for your Mom instead of blowing it off. Just relax and try not to worry too much though I know that is easier said than done. It isn't gonna help to borrow trouble.

  • That was the same with me. The walk in doctor looked at my mouth and was like " specialist, I will book you as urgent, go get a X-Ray " and next thing I knew I was taking X-Rays and it's been a week since I've seen the specialist, he told me to get an ultrasound, so I don't even know whats wrong with me! And I believe tomorrow I will see him again..and most likely get a biopsy.

  • tremendously plenty each physician ordinarily prepare. they're greater in touch relating to the breast than the heart at present. pay attention. that's greater valuable to go on your deliberate parenthood. they're qualified to do the technique. those docs at present are purely after the federal subsidy and could then diagnose you with diabetes and schizophrenia, via fact they're on the comparable public furnish scale. Its like a jungle available.

  • He means that he does not specialize in obstetrics. He probably referred her to an obgyn who specializes in those things. Trust me, if there was something there, he would have told her.
