how to convert 240vac 50hz to 9dac?

i am using a 240vac to 9vac transformers and a zener diode to make ac into dc. But my question is either i use a zener diode bridge or a single zener diode or i need to use a capacitor to control its frequency?

  • No need to use a zener diode at all. You should use a diode bridge (full wave rectification), not just a single diode (half wave rectification), just make sure that the diodes can pass enough current without breaking down. Then you should use a capacitor to reduce ripple (nothing to do with changing frequency). Better still, use a 240Vac to 12Vac transformer, a diode bridge, a capacitor and a 9Vdc regulator.

  • I suggest you do some reading about basic DC power supplies before you burn out your shiny new zener.
