I am not sure.... I think that she was crazy and should have been locked up instead of killed. she was raped by her grandpa and she was a teen prostitute!!! why??

I do believe there were problems that should have been addressed. I believe she was mentally unstable. The thing is, she had an inexperienced attorney. Aileen told her attorney right off that she wanted the death penalty, she did not want to spend her life in prison. This is what her attorney fought for in court. (against advice from experienced attorneys) Her attorney was advised not to present this to the court, because many times people who say this change their minds in time, which is exactly what happened. Aileen later changed her mind about wanting to be put to death, but the case for the death penalty had already been put out and argued in court. The judge refused to change it.
