How do I import messages from a .csv file into Outlook Express?

I made the file with the 2007 version of Microsoft Outlook, but when I try to import it into Outlook Express, I don't have the option to import from a file.

And if it's not possible to do it with Outlook Express, could somebody suggest another mail program that would? There's a message that I need ASAP.

Update:

And while I'm hear, would somebody care to remind me how to prevent Outlook Express from deleting email from the server that it's located on?

  • You can just open the csv file with EXCEL. It won't be pretty, but you'll be able to see what you're looking for.

If you don't have Excel, go to your Windows Explorer and find your csv file. "Right click and Open With Internet Browser"

Again..won't be pretty, but you'll see the body of the msg.

    or~~~~~~~

In Outlook, go to FILE / Import - Export

    Select, File from another program.

Select, Comma Separated Value (csv) Windows

    Choose if you want duplicates

    Browse to your csv file

Comment to Curious. You can export your messages to .csv so that you can transport them to another application if you aren't going to use a particular service anymore. So, exporting them to csv file allows you to then import them into a new application.

But, you can just open the file in Excel and see all the data separated by columns and rows.

Again, it ain't pretty....but you can find what you are looking for in a pinch.

  • Import Messages Into Outlook

  • Not sure why a message is in CSV format?

I don't know what to do with Oexpress but even if outlook express cannot open it,

any other tool like Microsoft Excel or Wordpad or Textpad (or even Notepad) can show you the contents of a CSV file.

CSV is just a text file and should be viewable in any text editor.

So you should be able to open and read the message.
