How to prevent from (D)DoS attacks?
Hi, I own a website that is a private server for another game. My website is in competition with many other private servers, and in result I am getting DDoS'ed atleast 4 times a day.
My question to all you hackers out there is: " is there a free program that I can run on my server to prevent these DDoS attacks?"
Any tips + hints to this on-going problem would be great, thanks!

This is quite tricky to achieve since you are running a private web server and I am assuming that you do not have multiple servers. As far as I know DDoS can be properly combated with a Firewall / Intrusion Detection Systems which can be programed to alert and subvert dodgy traffic to your servers. You can easily drop packets from known / unknown sources. I have not used this product and do not guarantee or warant its use but a simple GOOGLE search has pointed me to Download FortGuard DDoS Attack Monitor 1.3 from http://wareseeker.com/Security-Privacy/fortguard-d...
PLEASE SCAN THE FILE FOR VIRUSES AND TEST IT on a pc before deploying it on your server. Good Luck
There are plenty of ways to prevent, stop, fight and kill off DDoS attack, such as using firewall. A low cost, and probably free method is by using software based firewall or filtering service. (D)DoS-Deflate is a free open source Unix/Linux script by MediaLayer that automatically mitigate (D)DoS attacks. It claims to be the best, free, open source solution to protect servers against some of the most excruciating DDoS attacks.
Try and hint his IP and hand it over to the police as you're making an entire record. According to the Misuse of Computers Act, a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) assault is unlawful and will also be prosecuted.
You can install ddos deflate
