Why do Australians pronounce "bag" like "beg"?

And "bad" like "bed".

  • Typical Australian Stereotyping. I say bag and bad like any other person, and I am Aussie. I can do a wicked Pommy accent tho mate!

  • i won't be ready to (rhymes with aunt) have self belief you asked me that. Accents are extraordinary to the guy listening to them. Obsession is extra desirable than a fragrance. Are you so into Australian accents or what? We sound great no remember what.

  • Because your ears hear bag sound like beg lol

  • Wrong.

Thats the Kiwi/Maori/New Zealand accent. (or possibly South African)

    We say

    'Beg' for Bag.

    'Sux' for Six.

'Fush and Chups' for Fish and Chips.

    'Yus' for Yes.

Theres about a million more examples, just ask any Aussie.

  • we dont you are getting confused with the way YOU pronounce it probably

and when are you going to stop asking all these silly questions and get a life for your self

  • Perhaps you are thinking of Kiwis or South Africans.

  • Um we don't. I know that I definitely don't get the "a" and the "e" sounds confused.

  • It's just our accent, everyone has different accents.

  • No we don't are your ears alright

  • haha maybe if they come from the eastern states lol
