car problem 2003 ford escape 3.0l v6?

I own a 2003 ford escape 3.0l v6. no CEl is on.. (anymore) i began to have a lack of acceleration and just had my car out of the auto shop less than 2 weeks ago to have them replace a plugged catalytic converter and as a result of the converter, a blown egr valve. 2 weeks after getting it out of the shop, it did the exact same thing and now i have another blown egr valve and lack of acceleration! i dont know what to do, they told me to go get myself another egr valve so they can rediagnose the problem- this doesnt seem fair as i already spent 1500 on repairs which they deemed fixed the issues. should they not be replacing the parts for free this time if theyre gone again? they couldnt seem to find an issue with it besides the converter before... engine codes were po300 po304 305 306 316. what could cause this since those are cylinders 4 5 and 6? leaking injectors? too much fuel pressure? bad pcm? i feel like this car should get more than 280 km to a tank... very frustrating

  • I don't know how trustworthy the shop is, but it sounds like the catalytic converter is still clogged. On mine I don't have emission testing, so I just cut the cat out. It helped out fuel economy when I did that as well. The only thing that would logically cause a blown EGR would be a buildup of exhaust and the cat not being replaced sounds like the culprit. If they replace the cat again ask for the old one.

  • the linked fee is steep for a Ford this is variety of out of assure. Reliability should not be Ford's area of workmanship regrettably. different than for that, they're man or woman-friendly and friendly to tension. i might recommend which you merely keep in mind a in addition priced Honda or Toyota kind which will grant you the comparable making use of know-how, with equivalent roominess, yet with much extra reliability. this could be considerable mutually as you run out of guarantee coverage. i might additionally advise which you suspect approximately taking advantage of the authorized used automobile classes. That being suggested approximately Ford, i might advise which you're taking a seem at Kia's alternatives. Kia has rather come forward in reliability as solid as fee. you need to by making use of and great get a clean Kia SUV for regarding the fee of what you should be via fact with the Ford. H a p p y S a f e D r i v i n g !

  • Sounds like your problem is "Downstream" meaning some chunks of the honeycombed monolith substrate that broke from the other cat is lodged in the exhaust system somewhere! When diagnosing these I use a 0-10 PSI "back pressure" gauge screwed into the O2 sensor port to test for any further restrictions!

NOTE: They are not going to give you the old Converter! Auto Repair facilities are required (by federal EPA law) to retain Failed/defective Catalytic converters that have been replaced for a period of 15 days and the pink Converter Warranty card must be attached to the failed unit in plain view in the facility!
