Assuming Obama "took over" GM as part of a socialist effort, why go after GM first?
If you were an ambitious socialist dictator hell-bent on nationalizing U.S. industry, would you begin by taking over a company that has almost no future? Or would you choose a company that is likely to still exist by the time your first term in office is over?

Sadly for the conspiracy theorists, Obama didn't go after GM at all; they came to him again, after blowing through the first multibillion dollar loan they got from the federal government.
If you had 30 billion dollars to lend out, they might come knock on your door too.
And if you're really attempting a full-on switch to socialism, you nationalize the banking industry first, like Republicans have been demanding, because then you already own everything else.
if obama tried to take over a healthy company he would have one hell of time trying to do so. gm was already failing and needed assistance and obama offering government help looks like a good idea because he is trying to "help"...once he takes over control of all the failing Business it would almost become the norm for government to be there for "just in case" intrests

The takeover of GM sends a message. That message is: You could be next.
Maybe you should read the Communist Manifesto. A government take over of business is another step in the Communist Manifesto. Just like centralization and federalization of banking, health-care, and the schools.

Infusing massive amounts of taxpayer cash (which is unconstitutional) can resurrect any company as they would have an unfair advantage over their competition.
