It really depends on several different factors: Dog breed, age, and individual preferences. For a puppy, if you don't want to be cleaning up accidents in your house or apartment you really should be taking your puppy out every 40 minutes or so. After they are truely potty trained a general rule of thumb is that a dog can hold it one hour per month they've lived, but really I wouldn't expect a dog to ever go more than 8 hours, and every 4-6 hours is probably best.
depends on the size of the dog and how old it is. bigger dogs have bigger bladders an small dogs have smaller bladders. so a small dog cannot hold a large volume of urine as long as a large dog can. also puppies and geriatric (old) dogs don't always have proper control of their bladders and need to be let out more often untill they are trained or to avoid accidents.

My dog pees 3 times a day but i don't know the average of every dog in this planet of how many times they pee.
