I don't see any good from legalizing pot...but then again I don't smoke. I don't even smoke cigarettes.
I do drink, and alcohol can be just as dangerous if not more dangerous than pot depending...but they tried alcohol prohibition once and had to change the constitution over it. That is why alcohol will still be legal.
Maybe some uses of marijuana could be legalized as in the case of medical marijuana. I believe that it has helped some people.
If it were to be made legal, then it could be taxed and better controlled. Meaning there wouldn't be as much street drugs. (pot anyway) and the quality would be better...I wouldn't know the difference. I just know that some of the pot on the streets is dangerous because they cut it with other drugs like PCP and what ever else.
If they did tax the sales like for liquor and tobacco they could use the tax money to fight other drug use.
I've heard that argument, but I am not totally convinced that it would do anyone any good to legalize it...I just don't see any good use for recreational pot.
I am too on the fence on that one. I still am not totally convinced that it is a good idea.
What about the brain cells that our new generation would be losing? The reason we are in this recession is partly due to lack of IQ's of those in office already! Why say yes to our children? Wouldn't we just be dooming them to repeat our flaws! Also, where would this stop? If pots ok... what next crack? Medical chronic conditions is the only situation where I'd say yes! I feel they should be monitored through out "treatment" just like any other legal drug! What about FDA approval? There are so many levels to this topic! Would saying yes to selling a crop of weed really help the state anymore then selling new weight loss placebo's?
Yes it should. The federal government and the states have made far too much of it. It was legal over a hundred years ago, and then some liberal do-gooders, the same folks that brought you Woodrow Wilson, the Federal Reserve, and Prohibition, brought anti-drug laws.
They are the ones that legislated this stuff. And for nearly 100 years, the government and states have paid significant sums of money and put untold numbers of people in prison to try and eradicate something that cannot be eradicated.
The definition of insanity is trying something repeatedly, failing, and trying again in the vain hopes of getting a different result.
The result is the same. Money is spent, law abiding citizens lives are ruined, and the weed is not eradicated.
Need I say more?
And PS -- I am a Republican and conservative and drug laws in my opinion are stupid.
The worst killer substances-cigarettes and booze-remain legal. So the only roadblock to decriminalization of the proscribed ones must be the magnificent profits they bring..some people...who don't dare pay taxes on them...not that they want to...
By the way...don't spread it around, but the Keep It Illegal Club seem to have overlooked another potentially lucrative tax revenue opportunity: The air we breathe. Psst! Keep it under your hat.
Just because "everyone does it" or "It can't be stopped" are horrible reasons to make something legal. If everyone were to start doing LSD would you make it legal? If everyone started robbing banks would you make it legal?
This drug is a poison to someones lifestyle. I have seen way to many peoples lives destroyed by usage of this drug. There is a STRONG connection to this drug and being a total loser in life. (Not everyone is like this I will admit)
The fact is it is illegal so don't risk your future by getting a drug charge on you record. It just doesn't make any sense. The Democrats will be the ones to pass a law legalizing this.
If you had the opportunity to go back in time and save millions of lives by making tobacco illegal wouldn't you? Marijuana is just as bad for you as tobacco even more so because they lack a filter. Why give people the opportunity to develop a disease.
I vote for legalization but it's not going to happen during a left-leaning Democratic administration. Politically, this can only be done during a right-wing, conservative, republican administration much like it took a right-wing, rabid anti-communist like Nixon to open relations with China.
if its regulated like alcohol n stuff then i don't see any problem
in fact, alot pf people drive under the influence of marijuana and dont get in car accidents.... more people die from alcohol abuse than marijuana abuse, so i see no problem with its legalization.
however, alot of people would go ape **** if that happened its probly part of the reason it doesnt happen
Hell yeah cause you can't overdose on it, alcohol is much worse and kills many people, the gov. can tax it and make money to help the economy, and it's not addictive. i could go on but that's basically why i think it should be legalized.
Yes even tax it and stop waisting our money sticking people in prison because of it.I don't use but Liquor and Beer kill more people than coke, heroin and meth combined. So it is just time to get real about this.
