I'm running windows vista on my HP laptop. I'm trying to burn a CD but it says to connect a burner. I've burned a CD before with no problems what so ever. Please Help.
Hopefully you've tried rebooting, if not try that. Sometimes a hangup will happen and a reboot (although w/ Vista a reboot takes forever and is annoying) will clear up things like that.
you may desire to be waiting to apply the gadget restoration function. pass to the start menu. click on "All classes". click on the folder "upload-ons" and then click on "gadget equipment" then "gadget restoration". seem for a prior date than once you deleted the motive force (the clickable dates would be in ambitious). click that and initiate the restoration. Your laptop will could desire to restart. the particularly restoration could desire to be from 5 minutes to 20 minutes, so wait and spot. i desire this works out for you!

What exactly is the error message?
Is the error message coming from your burner program like Windows Media player or Roxio etc? OR is it a Windows system error?
Option 1 would be reinstall or update WMP.
Option 2 would be clean your registry for errors with Norton System Works or CCleaner, then check for updates on your CD drive.
Reboot. Otherwise, use something other than the built in burner for Vista as it is buggy.

Get rid of MS Vista... Put XP on your laptop... Problem solved.
