puppy refuses to pee outside?

my 2 month old puppy just refuses to pee outside and i have to wait like 2 hours every time i take him out to pee and then after i finally give up waiting for so long, he ends up peeing inside the minute he enters! i've seen him hold it out for more than 3 hours which is weird because i thought that's how as long as he can hold it and he drinks a lot of water too. please help, im worried. the pooping is going fine its just the peeing thats the issue.

Update:

there's no specific place where he pees inside, he just pees randomly anywhere inside.

  • hmm, tough one, one questionbefore i answer. What does he usually pee on when he comes in, what i mean is, is there anywhere he goes specifically once he comes into the house

EDIT: alright try walking him outside go in the lawn with him, put him on a leash, if he pees, wait until hes done then praise him , for inside use a cleaner that eliminates ammonia to possibly prevent him from peeing in the same spot.

  • This is a tough one ..but not imposable..you made need to go to a outside place and stay all day have a picnic ..go fishing something like that..and when he finally pees out side have a tasty treat..Most of the time that is all it takes is a few times like that..

Or you can potty pad train him some dogs just do not like to pee outside..I know someone that actually took a potty pad outside with her for he would pee..

  • my dog had the same issue for like 3 weeks when i brought him home. The way i trained my dog was by saying,"gotta go pup".I would wait and wait for hours but he learned with lots of praise and i gave him so many treats for doing so good when he did that he has it mastered now six months later:).The key thing to potty training is patience though most of all.Maybe...i recommend a 30-1 hour walk in the neighborhood.Hes bound to have to go after all that walking. As soon as he wakes up you can take him out,as soon as he finishes eating you can also take him out and just walk in circles with him till he understands really.Hope this helps.Happy trails and the best of wishes with your new pup:)

  • he's still a baby and learning what you want. take him out after he eats, have a puppy cookie, praise him when he poohs, say his name and good dog etc. if he pees inside, don't scold, just pick him up and take him outside gently and tell him good dog. he'll get it. takes about a week or two, just have to be persistent. he'll make mistakes. if he's drinking alot of water like the entire bowl, have vet check for diabetes/adrenal, kidney etc.

  • Try crate training him. Its not cruel like a lot of people think. Once they get use to it they start to think of it as their own personal room and enter it without objection. I have a Bichon that we had a lot of trouble training. We eventually did this and it helped immensely.

  • awwww, pooor pup.

try making the outside fel like inside. maybe your dog likes his privacy. if he is peeing in the kitchen try putting a piece of the kitchen floor out side in an enclosed areaso that he has his privacy.

  • Did you ever considered training him to pee on news-papers? It works actually....you should try doing that.

  • try to make him pee in one spot in the house thats covered with paper or somethin

  • He's young, he isnt too far behind in development.
