Memory W.B. Yates Poem Analysis?

One had a lovely face

And two or three had charm

But charm and face were in vain,

For the mountain grass

Cannot but keep the for

Where the mountain has lain.

  • Sometimes, in my opnion, we come across these FAKE poets. They are like people gone mad, and writing stuff that just doesnt make sense.

It means that the beauty of a face, and the charming words they use,,could never stand in the way COMPLETELY of the "big love"

  • Substance cannot hold through time. What is left of charm and face is like the shape of the hare left in the grass, but not the thing itself.
