what do sales representatives do?

my boyfriend got me a job at his company being a sales for a cargo airline.. so i think it means i have to sales the space on the airplane..

i guess i just want to know how to be successful at this job..

    According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, here is the general definition of a sales rep:

    Sales representatives are an important part of manufacturers’ and wholesalers’ success. Regardless of the type of product they sell, sales representatives’ primary duties are to make wholesale and retail buyers and purchasing agents interested in their merchandise and to address any of their clients’ questions and concerns. Sales representatives demonstrate their products and explain how using those products can reduce costs and increase sales.

    Most likely, your job will be convincing other companies to use your cargo company to move goods around the company (i.e., get a company like Amazon to ship their books using your company).

    I am assuming you actually sell contracts for shipping to companies, no the space on the plane.
