how do i set yahoo as my default email for windows vista?

I have checked old answers but they dont help - yahoo is not an option to select in internet options-programs..

Update:

so far none of these answers is helpful - I downloaded the new yahoo toolbar - but it still did not allow for yahoo email in options.

Update 3:

ok if I don't use yahoo because I don't want to pay for it - what OTHER email can I set as default? Any other free email?

    This has to do with setting up Windows Mail with your account information. In order to do that, you need to have a POP e-mail account. If you use the FREE Yahoo, you'll need to upgrade to Yahoo Plus (not free) in order to configure Windows Mail.

    In your startupmenu click on "default programs" and choose for "yahoo mail" as your default email program.

    If you don't see the icon in your startupmenu you can find it in your control panel : default programs and choose for yahoo mail in their.

    Also possible if you have the yahoomail icon on your desktop then right click on it. But i prefer one of two above. And yes it is possible to have yahoomail as your default program i change every month of default mail program and yahoo mail is included in that. And also your yahoo home page has nothing to do with this as some do think. The yahoo mail and messenger work separated of the rest.

    on your browser window go to - tools - options - main - type in the home page (www.yahoo.com)- apply - ok

    Those options are only for email clients installed locally on your machine like Mozilla Thunderbird or MS Outlook. Web clients like gmail, yahoo, and hotmail are not available.

    Like mark as homepage? Because if so you can just go to the homepage and click mark as homepage
