Can I use a speedo cable as tach cable CB750?

I am working on a CB750 right now and Im having a hard time finding a tach cable at the length I need. I have an extra speedo cable that is close to the right length. All of the fittings are the same it seems like. Will I have any problems?

    If the cable tips match and the housing attachments are the same, the bike won't know the difference -- all the cable does is rotate inside the housing, and both ends go at the same speed, no matter what you call the cable..

    Always give year, make and model #

    Everything is different.

    If the fittings are the same it should work.

    It'll work fine. I've done that with my CB350.
