Do you think my insomnia Is a result from a recent breakup?
I'm 21, I was with my ex a little over 2 years. I love him to death, but love is not always enough so I broke Uo with him 2 days ago. That night and the ones after I can't sleep. Like complete insomnia.... It's almost 5am and I can't sleep last night I didn't sleep at all. If that is the reason fir my insomnia. Any suggestions? I feel like my heArt is ripping apart & it hurts so much just thinking about it(I try not to think about it which I'm successful at excepts nights). Please help:|

Yes, been there, done that. I also broke up with I guy I really loved, but the relationship just wasn't right. The breakup was the right thing to do, but I've never experienced such pain in my life before, never. I think the closest thing to it would be losing a spouse. I thought my chest was going to cave in from heart ache. I was with him for six years, a little longer than you, but still, anything more than a one year relationship is going to be very tough.
Give yourself some time to grieve the loss of the relationship. Please do not mistake the grief for having made the wrong decision - I guarantee you will feel that way eventually, just remind yourself that you did the right thing for the right reason, and stay your course.
Please make sure you are eating well, good clean proteins (chicken, shrimp, beans), healthy fats (olive oil, avocado), and enough fiber (25 to 30 grams a day) and hydrate with healthy water. Most importantly, work out! Working out will release endorphins and help your attitude and brain. It will also help fatigue your body which will eventually lead to sleep. If you already work out, then up your intensity or change things up somehow so your body doesn't know what to expect.
Hang in there and my best to you.

You can try ‘Focusing on breathing’ to detach your mind from the thoughts about your bf and the break up. You can get quality sleep and conquer insomnia. This technique calms the mind and relaxes the muscles, inducing quality sleep. The following mode of this technique can be tried when lying in the bed and needing to sleep.
Triple segment mode: Every finger has 2 cross lines, dividing it into 3 parts or segments. Place the tip of the thumb at the top segment of the little finger and breathe three times. Move the thumb to the middle segment and breathe three times. Move to the bottom segment and breathe three times. Repeat the same steps at the next 3 fingers. At the thumb, place the tip of the index finger on its segments and follow the same steps. Then switch to the other hand and repeat the process all over. Continue to practice, switching the hands. When you wake up in the morning, you will be surprised how you slept so well last night!
