Ebay/paypal scam? Asking for paypal email address?
Im trying to sell a videogame console on ebay for the first time and I put a very high buyout price and a lower auction price. It sold for the highest price 3 hours later almost immediately and the person who bought it has asked me through ebay-email and through my cell phone number what my Paypal email address is so that they can pay me the money. Is this safe? I feel like I should be a bit careful..It is an @rediffmail account which is indian and the buyer is located in florida (although the text came from a seperate number than listed)
Update:It was a brand new account made yesterday might I add

It's a scam. Report the buyer to Ebay right away
They are trying to get you to do an offsite transaction so you have NO protection from Ebay or Paypal. In fact if you allow him to pay you directly it will result in Ebay closing your account and refunding the buyer
The buyer MUST pay through Ebay's checkout page or no deal. You NEVER give your Paypal address to anyone on Ebay for any reason. That's why you use Ebay - to protect the privacy of your account
Tell him you are sorry but he doesn't need your Paypal details and if he doesn't pay through Ebay within the next 4 hours, you are reporting him as a non-paying buyer
These scammers target new sellers who are not familiar with how Ebay works to steal their items - especially games consoles, phones and laptops
If you are a new seller you should never sell something expensive first. Always start with small items like books, games, etc just to build up your feedback. Then when you are selling electronics do not offer the Buy it Now option - 95% of scam attempts will use this as their accounts are rarely open long enough to complete the normal bidding process, or if they are using a hacked account, the real account holder normally gets their account restored before the auction ends
The buyer must have your Paypal email address to pay you but that information shows up on the Order Details or the invoice that you send him. I dont know what rediffmail is but require that he use only Paypal or other accepted Ebay electronic payment processors and not go through any third parties.
This buyer in Florida bought it at your Buy It Now price? Nothing wrong with that. How is this person's feedback?
Scam. A winner would have a pay now button on their my ebay page. They would just click that to pay. The buyer would never need the email address. In fact, to be covered by shay's policies they must pay to the address you listed in the auction.
Your scanner is trying to get the item for free.
File with shay that he tried to pay with fake money. So they can close the account.
Scam.
They will send you a fake PayPal email.
The email will state that your money is pending until you enter the tracking number for the shipment. PayPal doesn't ever do this and, as the email is fake, there is no money.
A legit buyer would complete the purchase through Ebay (using PayPal) and would not need your PayPal email address.
