Ideas for Seventies Fancy Dress Party?

Hi, I've been invited to a BBQ in June, and the hostess is insisting every one dress up in 70's fancy dress. Being born in the 80's, I have no idea what they wore back then.

Any ideas what I can wear (and my man if have ideas for that too) or if there were any famous female singers from teh 70's that I could go as.

    With all the smock tops about at the moment in bright bold patterns you should have no problems in finding clothes.

    Your man could wear a nice open shirt with huge collars....that might require a trip to the charity shop.

    make sure that you have a great time at the Barby, but remember not to over do it on the flairs and the wide collars or else you'll end up looking like the average American.

    In the seventies we wore these long dresses called granny dresses. They were long, empire waisted dresses with a drawstring at the bustline and were usually made of gingham material or some wildflower design. I also remember wearing alot of velvet.

    Tie with an enormous knot and about 2 inches worth of tie.

    Tie die jeans or the biggest flares you can find. Spend a coupla hours in the charity shops and you will find them all.

    try cher, diana ross or karen carpenter depending on your hair color and skin type. you can get a dress with long sleeves that kinda pouf at the arms and have a cuff at the wrists that make it look baloon-ish.
