Does DDR2 mobo support DDR3 graphic card?

I have a GF7050V-M7 motherboard which supports DDR and DDR2. Until now I had a nVidia 8500GT 512MB DDR2 graphic card, but it crashed and now I'm looking for a new card. I want to buy a nVidia 8800GTS 640MB DDR3 and I want to know if the mobo will support it. The PSU has enough power to give to the card, so that's not a problem.

  • You can be running sdram and run that card. The ram on the board makes no difference with the ram on the card as far as compatibility goes. As long as you have the slot that the card requires , pci express , then you will be good.

  • Your "system" ram has nothing to do with "video" ram, there separate and independent of each other.. you can use a video card with GDDR5 ram if you want.
