  • Very normal...no worries...just be greatful! =)

  • Hhhmm, it sounds like a bit too much too soon. If you're breast feeding you should be consuming 1800 calories a day, which will provide you and your baby with enough nutrients etc.

Your weight loss might also be related to how much you gained during your pregnancy. Average recommended weight gain is between 25-35 lbs.

Remember that after the birth you're no longer carrying:

    - the baby: 7.5 lbs

    - the placenta: 1 lb

    - amniotic fluid: 2 lbs

    - extra blood: 2.5 lbs

    - tissue fluid: 6 lbs

In general, most women can expect to lose 1-2 lbs per month and it's considered safe to lose as much as 1 lb per week.

  • That sounds like alot but dont forget the weight of the baby, fluids, placenta etc weighed quite a bit and additionally if you are breastfeeding the weight will drop off quicker than if you are formula feeding.

So long as the weight loss is not caused by an insufficent diet (which can be pretty easily the case with a newborn baby occupying all your time) then you are fine. and congratulations too !

  • Are you breastfeeding? While breastfeeding you burn tons of calories. I lost nothing while breastfeeding, but a friend of mine dropped 20 pounds in a few short months. I wouldn't say anything is wrong though. Just make sure you are eating a couple hundred extra calories so you don't lose too much!

    Good Luck and Congrats!!!
