Do you like electronic music (trance, dubstep, house, electro etc)?

I not only love, but LIVE music. Trance is unlike any other genre: it is the sound of feelings. It takes you to another emotional dimension. Germans and Dutch aren't high because they smoke week, they're high because they listen to trance.

Liquid (softer, more melodic) dubstep is also amazing and has, behind trance some of the most beautiful melodies ever produced. I also like a lot of liquid dubstep fusions eg dubstep and classical, traditional oriental or beautiful string or piano lives. I don't like what the average joe would consider dubstep (ie Skrillex who is EXTREME dubstep; the screamo of dubstep), but liquid dubstep is beautiful. There's something about the controlled power combined with the beautiful melodies. Chillstep (chilled dubstep) is also great for relaxing/doing work.

I'm not really a massive fan of house, electro, dnb or any other electronic genres, but there are some good songs in these genres.

So what about you? Do you like electronic music and why?

  • Herve has the right idea.

  • I live it too man.

I've been to over 50 edm comcerts/raves sine I got into it around 6 years ago when I was 18. Electronic is all about the live experience

I fu***** love liquid dub... Do you listen to UK garage or Future Garage?? SBTRKT is awesome.

My favorite dubstep producer is 16bit. Too bad they broke up and I'll never get to see them.

My favorite DJ is Diplo. It blows my mind how the guy explores so many different sounds and genres in his production. Insane live DJ to boot. His record label mad decent puts out awesome stuff all the time you should check it out if you haven't already.

The thing I love most about electronic music is the vibe at the shows. The sense of community at the shows is awesome. EDM has some of the best crowds for any kind of live music (I think Reggae has cool vibes at shows too).

What's great about edm is that no genre can keep up with it in terms of volume of new songs every day. The fact that people can use nothing but a laptop to make a complete banger combined with the internet makes for quality songs coming out every day.

I agree with your last statement, I'm not a huge house/electro fan. I absolutely hate avicii (even though I saw him live), swedish house mafia, Deadmau5 etc. Afrojack has some ok songs (London, and Drive By which is unreleased.)

    Thanks for asking! lol

  • Dubstep is to electronic music what vomit is to food.

Forgt Shrillex and Knife Party, you need to listen to proper electronic masters, like Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Leftfield, Autechre and Squarepusher.

  • Yes all of it including ambient. And not to burst your bubble, but Skrillex isn't "EXTREME dubstep". He has a couple of dubstep songs, but he's mostly Electro house.

  • Not really, (with a few notable exceptions, like the band Dubstep)

  • I love house. the others are good on ocassion, but Steve Aoki, Tiesto, avicii, Swedish House, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyke, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Dirty South. the list goes on. and i just love house. its such an upper. and i love to roll, so house is just perfect for it,

  • Yes, I'm really diggin Aphex Twin right now

v Didn't you suggest me "Swim" one time? I listened to the whole album, but I'll listen to it again.

  • I like a few bands, it isn't my passion though. I'm more into indie rock, oldschool punk, different genres of metal (I try not to limit myself), and a few electronic bands.

The few bands I know and like are:
