mk 4 astra wont start?

the car drove fine during the day then the wife used it in the evening and it stalled on her twice the next morning it wouldnt start it turns over but wont fire i had a relative look at it he said it doesnt look like there is any fuel getting to the carb through the single point injector but the fuel pump is fine

Update:

the fuel looks very dirty as well

  • I thought most cars were fuel injected nowadays which means it wont have a carburetor if it is. I would double check first to see which of the two it is but If it is dirty fuel entering through a fuel injection system it could very well be that the injectors themselves are partially blocked thus reducing the flow of fuel to the cylinder head.

  • Simple, it's the wife's fault....

I wouldn't take much notice of what someone who thinks a mk4 Astra has a carb says though, cars haven't had carburettors in the UK for over 20 years. It could well be a fuel fault, or a sparks fault, or any one of a dozen other things.

With friends like that, take it to a garage.

  • Must be a dud. I had a mk4 Astra for 4 years and it never once went wrong.
