  • Start by adding 5/3 to both sides. You should get 3/4(5x - 1/2) < 2. Multiply both sides by 4/3 (the same as dividing by 3/4), to get 5x-1/2 < 8/3. Add 1/2 to both sides, and get 5x < 19/6. Divide both sides by 5, and get x < 19/30.

  • 3/4(5x - 1/2) - 5/3 < 1/3

    add (5/3) to both sides

    3/4(5x - 1/2) < 2

    multiply both sides with 4

    3(5x - 1/2) < 8

    15x - 3/2 < 8

    add 3/2 to both sides

    15x < 19/2

    divide both sides by 15

    x < 19/30

  • 3/4 (5x - 1/2) - 5/3 < 1/3

    3/4 * 5x - 3/4 * 1/2 -5/3 < 1/3

    15x/4 - 3/8 - 5/3 < 1/3

    15x/4 - 49/24 < 1/3

Adding 49/24 to both sides gives

    15x/4 < 1/3 + 49/24

    15x/4 < 57/24

    15x/4 < 19/8

    Multiplying both sides by 4/15

    x < 19/8 * 4/15

    x < 19/30
