How do ask my dad for a new car?
My dad owns several successful businesses so expense is not an issue. When it comes to money my dad is the biggest Jew. A few months ago i turned 16 and i asked my dad to get me car. I got the grades, 3.0 for insurance. My dad gave me a piece of **** car, a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder. Every month something breaks on it, the heater core, door locks, door handles, air conditioner, i hear all these funny noises that aren't normal, sometimes it wont start and I'll have to have a friend help me jump start it, and just yesterday i got a flat tire. When i put the spare on it turned out that was flat as well. The tools he gave me for it were **** too. This damn car is older than me and its just going to keep breaking down. I don't know how to ask my dad for a new car, i just have this feeling hes gonna get angry at me say im ungrateful. Im a good kid, do good in school, involved in sports, don't get into trouble, and im a safe driver. I know if i was one of his stepkids my first car would of been new. How should i go about asking my dad for that well deserved car?
Update:Me and my grandpa are the ones repairing the car and im the one wasting my money on it.
yea its an awsome car its just not safe to drive outta town with.
Update 3:btw a few days ago i was driving to school and there all these cheerleaders from different schools in the front along with all the hot tennis players. I hit this dip driving in and my horn went off for about a minute....i made a u-turn and parked my car down the block and just walked in to school. pretty god damn embarrassing when my horn sounds like old lady car horn

spred your legs and beg
Just ask him if you could sell the Nissan or trade in for a newer car. Explain to him that you hate for him having to put $ into repairs and you are hearing strange noises & in fear of breaking down. Do you live with him? Is he the one paying for the repairs? A parent doesn't want to buy a expensive first car, due to no experience, teen boys have more wrecks, insurance rates are higher. You may think money is no object but it is when the parent is the one having to pay for it. I'm old school, I had to work, go to school full time to pay for my first car, second car, third car, so on and on. Pathfinders are really cool.
Dude, my pa5rents never bought me a car, and when I finally bought my own I now am the only one that takes my mom to the grocery store, to run errands, or anything like that. To top it all off I'm grateful when she gives me gas money.
However, money is tight at my parents house, and apparently not an issue with your dad, so explain to your father that you are un-comfortable with the fact that you may break down on your way to school. If he does help you out then be grateful, if he doesn't then you need to respect that as it's his money.
Don't get upset with me, your dad's money is his, as he brought you up, you should tell him thank you, and you depend on yourself and get your own car, but
If you wanted to know how can you make your dad get you a better car, he can get you what you want if you convinced him that you are a man, and you are advancing your life in a right direction, whether studying hard or seeking a job everyday and trying not to drink, and not on drugs, he'll respect you and help you more.
you are being ungrateful..there are tons of people who cant even afford to eat..much less have a great car. Your dad probably knows the value of a dollar, and wants to show you how to earn your own way through life.
You're 16, you dont really need a nice car.. and when YOU can afford to buy one yourself, it feels much better than having someone buy it for you.
At your age,if it gets you from point A to point B, its a good car.
Alot of kdis dont even get cars. They have to earn it themselves. You should just be happy you have one. If you want a ne car, save up for it yourself. Your father wont always be there to get your what you want. And most likley he is trying to make you learn the value of a dollar.
Tell him if he can buy u won and wen u get the chance wen u get older yull pay him back or just strate up say buy me a car I know its not the best anser in the world but I hope it helped
show him the bills for parts and labor. It would be cheaper and SAFER to get you a newer model!
