what kind of music is classed as 'emo'. ,y friend thinks shes emo coz she listens to Fall Out Boy, Elliot Minor, Cobra Starship etc. i dont know so what IS classed as 'emo'.

Fallout boy is emo, as they're almost influenced by pop and post-hardcore bands.
Emo came from the term emotional hardcore in the late 90's, but nowadays the bands that are described as emo and neither emotional or hardcore. But yes, those bands would be described as emo these days

If the "musicians" in the band wear freakishly tight pants, scarves, or have screwed up haircuts. It's probably emo.
And if you step back and take in the overall output of the particular band and see that they are an overall waste of time and space, then yes it is most likely emo.
Anything that really isn't too mainstream and talks about how your life sucks. You're g/f or b/f left you, you parents hate you. Your world has crashed...stuff like that.
