Car Dealership Problem?
Hi I have purchased a car from a official dealer in the UK (Perrys Mazda UK) its an Chevrolet Aveo 2013 diesel and it was in a good price range for the age and mileage. At first I thought that buying form a main dealer is the best option when it comes to coverage. I was offered 1 year warranty so the deal felt safe. On the test drive i noticed a code 89 appearing on the dashboard and when asked a sales guy he said its due to the service and they will cover it. After buying the car, the code was not there anymore. After a week of purchase the code appeared again....I have made multiple appointments with them and was always getting answer that there is nothing wrong with the car.. last month they finally discovered the issue by taking it to the vauxhall and it appears that that was a faulty egr valve. I was told to wait for the approval from mazda to replace the part. It took them more than a month for the answer and when they called my I was informed that they cannot fix it for free because my warranty does not cover that specific part and that I have to pay for it. When talking to her I said that the issue was there since i bought the car and it feels like they sold me a faulty car. The next day they called me again and said that there is nothing Ithey can do because I had the car for 5 months now. Is ther anything I can do in that situation? I feel like I was scammed and they just wanted to get rid of the car. The total price for fix is £735...

You’ll likely have to file a Small Claims Court case against Perrys on the basis that the car was not fit for purpose, not as described, and not repaired free as promised in your pre-sales negotiations. In the UK dealers must supply roadworthy cars, and a failed EGR valve will usually fail the MOT emissions test.
Before doing that put your complaints in writing sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery to Perrys one final time giving them a reasonable deadline to respond before you file the Small Claims application. I’d suggest seven calendar days as they should already be very familiar with your complaint.
If they don’t respond in time then you need a working car, so get the repair done and make your Small Claim out for the cost of the work and the reasonable costs you’ve incurred sorting the matter out.
Check if you have insurance which provides legal help as they can guide you. Many car and household insurance provides that as do many Trade Unions and car breakdown recovery schemes.
Don't waste your time with the sales people or shop people. Call the owner or General Manager and explain the situation and demand that they take care of the repair. If they refuse, tell them you will go to the press and get them to print the story that shows their dealership does not stand behind their word or warranties. Good Luck
Thats why dont buy cars from official dealers.
They are scammers.
Dont expect anything good.
I think you should sue them.
Thank you very much for all the answers guys. The funny thing is that the car does not always show the code 89 it pops out randomly and the only problem i have got with the car is that it has a difficult start in the morning at FIRST. after second try it starts normal and then driving for about 10 min the code pops back again. It happens randomly and the code disappear when car gets warm.....When i got the car for a check up at mazda they said that they took out egr valve and there seems to be nothing wrong with it but the vauxhall says it probably needs replacing.. At this point im really confused and I dont really know what to do. Should i take the matter in my own hands and drive to the nearby mechanic to check the part? Thank you again for all the answers guys.
You were scammed. Warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. Before you buy a car, any car, get your own mechanic to check it over first. If the seller refuses, walk away
your being ripped off ...a new valve is circa £50 ..and easy fit ...however i have been onto chevrolet websites ....code 89 comes up often ...and apparently its a software problem ....not one site mentions the EGR valve .....but a lot of fed up customers out there
Why would Mazda have to approve the work? The dealer is responsible for the warranty and not Mazda.
In addition to what others say: you bought a used Chevrolet from a Mazda dealer and expect fair treatment? Not in the USA and apparently not there, either. That used car either was traded in a Mazda dealership because the previous owner was disgusted with it . . . . or the Mazda dealer bought it from a wholesale because no one else wanted it.
Doesn't matter what country you're in. USED CAR SALESMAN are pretty much the same no matter where you go. NEVER take what they tell you as the absolute truth. Get it in writing BEFORE you hand over your money.
Talk to your local Citizens Advice, or if you can, take proper legal advice from a solicitor.
