Why do Americans dress so badly...?
I'm from the UK, and I've noticed that Americans don't seem to care about dressing nicely... I should add I'm male...
Would Americans who have been to Europe agree?
Also, I'm going to university in America... Would American students look at me differently because I take care over my appearance and dress nicely. Maybe they'd think that because I care about how I look I'd be gay...
Also, I'm not superficial... Don't use that argument against me, as SOME Americans are very superficial (think celebrity obssesed culture, plastic surgery and size 0). I just like to look smart, stylish and respectable.

As always, it depends on the individual. I know lots of Americans who dress very nicely.
Hmm I don't know where you're attending school but around here, everyone always puts their best fashion forward. Try not to judge the people that roll out of bed and come to class in sweatpants, that's not a big deal. Most people look nice when it's important to look nice..
It could also be that you don't understand the fashion. The indie/heroin chic/thrift store/messy/grunge look is in style, and it's kind of cool for people 19-24ish to dress down. That's just an observation!

though you may think they look bad,they probabley think the same about you! (not to offend you of course...) but yes,there are some guys in America that dress funny(...and women...) but thats just who we are!

I agree, Americans are shabby. I try taking care of how I present myself. I also have my style, which is a mixture of many influences based on what works for who I am. I go for timeless opposed to trendy. But with some people, fashion isn't their forte and doesn't mind if it is.

Dude our culture and your culture are different. It dosen't mean our culture is bad or your culture is bad its just that each of our cultures have a different sense of style and eating habits etc..

They will call you "gay." many of them.
I do not agree with that (what is gay with looking good) but its what it is in north america.
