If 4 Mol. calcium carbide (CaC2) reats wih an excess of water, how many moles of acetylene (C2H2) will be produced

    CaC2 is your limiting reactant (you will run out of this first, therefore you can only make as much of the product as you have the CaC2 for it)

    The molar ratio of the equation is 1:2->1:1

    meaning 1 mole of CaC2 plus 2 moles of H2O will make 1 mole of C2H2 and 1 mole of Ca(OH)2

    Since you have 1.06 moles of C2H2, you can make no more than 1.06 moles of C2H2 and Ca(OH)2 each.

    1.06 moles yield of C2H2 * 26.02g/mol = 27.6 g yield of C2H2

    1.06 moles yield of Ca(OH)2 * 74.04g/mol = 78.5 g yield of Ca(OH)2
