How do you know if your depressed?

I don't know if I'm depressed or just sad lately? Please help

  • Visit yourlifeyourvoice.org to talk to a free online councellor. look up exercise and depression online it releases endorfins which improve mood and brain chemistry. and Art Therapy; channelling what ur feeling into something creative helps ur brain process the negativity in ur head. also find some volunteer work; helping others or nature builds selfesteem, gives life new meaning gives perspective and good karma... u dont have to believe in god but finding some spirituality can really help and good karma is a good start... basically research all u can on depression then when u find things that help come on here and share with the other deprrssed people, more good karma. good luck. Why not join clubs groups and activities outside of school where you ll meet like minded people. Or challenge urself by joining groups u wouldnt normally be interested in.

    It's normal to feel sad or down from time to time. If it carries on for longer, though, it's time to talk to someone about it.

    For a depression diagnosis, five or more of these symptoms will have been present during a continuous two week period and represent a significant change in your previous mood and functioning:

    * Diminished interest or pleasure in once enjoyable activities

    * Reduced ability to control your emotions

    * A continuously low mood, which may include feelings of overwhelming sadness or emptiness

    * Lack of concentration or indecisiveness

    * Feelings of guilt and worthlessness

    * Negative thoughts

    * Tiredness and loss of energy

    * Change in appetite or significant weight loss or gain

    * Sleep problems such as insomnia or hypersomnia

    * Feeling sluggish, body aches or slow movement

    * Recurrent thoughts of death and suicide.

  • when your feeling depressed , every breath you take hurts emotionally

    you feel like crying all the time, but you cant most of the time

    you want to die constantly

    you wish that you never wake up again

    if someone ever makes a insulting comment, it ruins your day, presumingly it started off better than usual, otherwise it makes your next few days complete sh!t

    your world turns to complete desolate at the smallest thing that could get you upset

    sorry, i am looking at a clinical depressed kind of veiw, and that is much worse than normal depression, but doesnt mean that noraml depression should go without being treated

  • Well...being sad is depression...sooo yeah i think your depressed. You should make an appointment with a psychiatrist. He will help you overcome it and may prescribe meds. Hope i helped. Get better soon!
