Yes, the male will be okay with it, infact I reccomend it. Zebra finches are social animals, they really shouldn't be kept on their own.
If your zebra finches were bonded, he may look around for her and moarn for her up to a week (anymore than that and there could be something wrong with him).
Sorry to hear about your finch, the best thing you can do for your male is get him another friend.
I had a pair of Zebra Finches. The male died, so we got a new male for the female. She was just fine with it. I don't know how a male Zebra finch would react to a new partner, but I assume it would accept her in a similar way.
Sorry your bird is dead. What did she die of??? If she was laying eggs she may have been egg bound. That is where the muscles are not strong enough to expel the egg and the female dies a long and painful death. You can prevent this - yes you. Muscles need lots of calcium to work properly. If you are going to breed birds, you must provide what they would get in the wild to keep them healthy and alive. And you provide this before they begin to breed. I scrape a cuttle bone over their food to give them the calcium they need. If they are only eating seeds, I take the juice from vegies or fruit and mist it over the seeds then scrape the cuttle bone onto the seeds. Read more about breeding these sweet birds.
When we cage them, we are completely responsible for their welfare and must do all we can to enrich their lives.
hey that is sad i feel so sorry for you but if you get another one you can name it like the other one but i hope you feel OK and if you add a female to the cage it might make another one
