  • You would need to get a contact lens fitting, there is more work involved with contacts than glasses. We need to measure the size and shape of your eyes, check for dry eyes and allergies, teach you how to put them in and take them out, take care of them. There is an additional charge for this, it usually ranges from $30-$100 extra, depending on where you go.

The contacts themselves vary so much depending on what kind you doctor prescribes. Typically, a 6 pack of two week disposables runs about $25 and a six pack of monthly disposables run about $30-$50.

Overall, as long as they are used properly, contacts are very safe, cost efficient alternative to glasses.

Oh- and I work for a private optometrist's office and our contacts are cheaper than 1800contacts and you'll have them much sooner, plus we will give you contact lens solution with the contacts, support your local optometrist's office!

  • Well are you in the UK, cos thats a big thing?

In the UK, you can get a special contact lense appointment

first of all you get a free contact consultation

and then ive you decide to go ahead, a free contact fitting, and then a training lesson

these are all free unlessssss you dont turn up / back out of getting them fitted, then theyll charge you for basically wasting your time

thennnnn you can get different types of contacts

im on contacts monthly, and that costs 16 pounds per month, which gives you enough contacts to wear 5 times a week for a month

there are all sorts of different periods of time you can buy them for, and prices range, but the 16 pounds a month one is the most common.

and contact lenses, ive fond no problems with them.

put them in in the morning, and i dont even notice them

only irritating thing is make up

  • It all depends on the type of contacts your eye doctor prescribes for you. Then you can look at http://www.1800contacts.com/

They have the best deals...by far.

I believe the eye exam is the same for both contacts and glasses.....
