I have to get braces in less than a month and I want some advice. How do I pass the time because surprisingly I am excited. Don't tell me not to be excited because it wont change my mind! So any advice for me? Should I eat before going in? Really any advice or info!! Thanks!

YES. Definitely eat before you go in, because honestly it will be the last meal you eat for a few days. I say this not to scare you, but to prepare you.
The initial few days after they put your braces on, your teeth hurt all the time! Literally, ALL THE TIME!! Making simple every day tasks such as eating and even brushing your teeth extremely painful.
Because the way braces work is they literally rip and pull your teeth backwards and forwards through your gums to make more room for your teeth to 'straighten out'.
(But I'm sure your orthodontist has already explained this to you.)
Anyway..... After about a week your body adjusts to the braces and no longer sends pain receptors to the brain because of the constant pulling. But beware, each time you go into the orthodontist to get your braces 'adjusted' every few months, usually your gums will hurt for a day or two afterwards. But nowhere near the initial first week of braces.
Also here's a little piece of advice for you, when you go into the orthodontist to get the 'adjustments' and 'tightening' of the wires done. MAKE SURE HE TRIMS THE WIRES!! Because if he forgets to trim the wires after he tightens them, there will be long sharp bits of wire sticking out the backs which will repeatedly cut and scrape the insides of your cheeks. Which is very painful, especially when you try to talk and eat.
(I still have scar tissue on the insides of my cheeks from the wires stabbing and cutting me when my orthodontist forgot to cut the wires on the braces on my top teeth.)
But apart from the pain, everything else is good cause to be excited! I mean, seriously, who wouldn't love to be able to attain perfectly straight teeth!!
Also... It's cool because every time you go in to get your braces 'adjusted' you get to choose the color(s) you want for the bands on them (If you have a good orthodontist like the one i went to he will even have ones that glow!!), so you can color-code them to match what your outfit is going to look like if you have a big event coming up.
Hope that some of the information I have shared is of any use!
I was really excited before I got mine too lol, yeah you should eat before going in cause your teeth might be too sore afterwards. The only advice I can think of is enjoy being able to bite into an apple cause you wont be able to do that after :P
not going to change your mind about being excited cause i was but the thing you have to remember is that braces will hurt urmm i had breakfast as my appointment was before 12 i just had breakfast and brushed my teeth. I wouldn't recommend eating before you went in as it may get stuck in your teeth and then it would be a bit gross. when you get them make sure the day after you have pain killers cause they really do hurt and have pain killers when they are tightened also so hope it helps
im 23 and ive had mine for 6 weeks. and yes, i would eat soooooooo much before you go in. your teeth will hurt later and you will regret not eating before you got them put on!!!! youre right to be excited its a positive step. passing the time wise, i dont know. films, books, go out with friends?
what else can i say....buy painkillers. my teeth are still tender after 6 weeks. make sure youre prepared to spend alot of time brushing your teeth after meals. non whitening toothpaste, non alcoholic fluoride mouthwash is what i use. good luck anyway, well done for making the decision to get them!!
Eat before you go on because you may find it hard with your braces to eat normally for the first couple of days. Good luck
yessssssss eat as much as you can, stuff your face to full. cause after you get them in you wont be able to eat anything solid for a day or 2. your teeth are going to hurt like a *****. exactly how it was when i first got em on.
eat chips, chew gum cause you wont be able to eat-chew em with braces.
well chips might be able to get away with if your using rubber bands instead of the wraping wire around the other wire etc..
Just keep busy and it will pass the time.
And yes, you need to eat before going in because your mouth will be in a lot of pain after.
eat before you go because your mouth will be sore and you wont want to eat. getting them on is miserable because it takes a long time and theres a ton of stuff in your mouth for the whole time and your mouth gets super dry :l
start brushing your teeth after your meals so that you get this good habit, because after braces are attached you need to keep the gums and teeth very clean so that teeth movement is proper.
I was excited to...I got them yesterday, they arent really anything to look forward to BUT they dont hurt they just feel super weird!
Good luck (:
