no pets, no bites...fleas?

eek- ive found two tiny brown insects in my room (about the size of the width of a penny)

ive never seen a flea before, but after a google search, they look flea-like.

i have no pets or carpets (im in japan, so i have tatami mats) and wash all my bedding regularly. also, i haven't noticed any bites.

is it possible to have one or two fleas without having a visible infestation?

i've already vaccumed and bug bombed my room, any other suggestions?

Update:

exactly- my mistake...they were the thickness of a penny...

  • Fleas are very tiny, not the size of a penny. Five hundred fleas would fit on a penny, sweetie. I have no idea what your bugs might be. I would clean up, bugs usually want to eat so cleaned up the house. Keep food sealed up tight. Clean the house, sweep & mop the floor, seal up your food. If you rent your flat, call the landlord and tell them you have bugs. Maybe they know what they are and how to kill them. Best of luck to you. Take care.

  • Well, I think you mean the thickness of the penny and not the width of it?

Fleas are very tiny, however they can be seen by the naked eye. These insects are serious jumpers and quite hard to catch, so if those buggers you're describing are hopping around like mad, then they're fleas.

Unfortunately, you don't necessary need to have pets to get fleas...they could be hopping around outside your door and a few unwanted houseguests invite themselves in. Since you don't have any carpets, the possibility of them infesting your home is slim. They need to have a place to lay their eggs and can remain dormant for some time. When the temperature is right, the eggs will hatch, thus creating a whole new generation of hell. However, if you maintain low temp levels at home, they can't survive too long. Fleas thrive in warmer environments.

Since you've already bug bombed your room, I think it's okay. Just make sure you don't have a pile of clothing laying around for them to hide and pack everything away nice and tight. If you still feel the need to do "more" then I would suggest you to mop the floor. Fleas hate wet surfaces.

  • One suggestion - calm down.

Sounds like you have done more than enough for the time being. If you havent noticed any bites, I'm guessing they weren't fleas.

Take a "wait and see" approach from here on out.....

  • Yup dont let them get into your ear in any case

When one got into mine i has to remove it by going to in hospital and ya check your ceilings for remains of dead insects or the bottom of your closet and for any leakage of drainage or ...................... DAMP & DIRTY places

  • fleas are not that big! maybe bed bugs?
